Dez Caldwell is a 22 year educator who has held every position from Teacher Assistant to Principal. Dez is an equity-minded leader who focuses on doing the right thing, not the easy thing. He refuses to back down from tough challenges and prides himself on calling it like he sees it. A proud husband and father, Dez wants to use his voice to be the change he seeks. It doesn't matter if he's addressing a local crowd or national audience he is student centered and a teacher first.
Miss Ferguson is a Brooklyn-native, currently residing in Springfield, Massachusetts. She is a proud graduate of The Lincoln University '14 and Boston University '18. In her seven years of teaching, Miss Ferguson has been awarded Rookie of the year ('17) and the Pioneer Valley Teaching in Excellence Award ('22). Specializing in Social-Emotional learning, Miss Ferguson supports her special education program and newer teachers in applying antiracist SEL practices. Her favorite part of her work is building long-lasting relationships with her current and previous students.
Aside from her passion for educating youth, Miss Ferguson is also a published prose writer, a bibliophile, and most importantly an auntie.
Mama Swan is a mom, a musician, a comedian, and animal lover. She produces a bi monthly comedy show call “Practice makes comedy”. This year she wrote a musical with her friend Maverick Prasad. She’s been teaching piano for over 25 years.
