Dr. Sarah Habibi is a molecular biologist, educator, digital content creator, and new mom to her son Noah. Sarah uses the power of social media to promote experimentation in STEAM and enhance student learning, through her popular page Science Bae on Instagram and TikTok. Sarah uses her 4+ years of teaching and curriculum development experience, Bachelor of Education Degree, PhD in molecular biology, and Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) designation to make her teaching educational, accessible, and engaging. The work Sarah has done with making science accessible online has been featured in a publication in the high-impact research journal, PLOS ONE, through media appearances on popular TV broadcasts like Breakfast television, and through interviews with news outlets like The Toronto Star and Shondaland. Sarah is also an Award-Winning public speaker as the 2019 winner of the Three-Minute Thesis competition at Ontario Tech University. Since then, Sarah has been hired to give talks to high school and university students on topics related to women in STEM, Science literacy online, and the work she does on TikTok with making science experiments fun.
Julie McClement is a UX Designer and UX Researcher who has worked in the public, private, and non-profit sectors. Her career has run the gamut from working in artificial intelligence to designing an agricultural database for the provincial government. She is also a published short story author.
Steven Bourne is not a scientist, biologist, or engineer. He's simply a sponge for knowledge, eager to understand why things are the way they are, and oftentimes questioning the way things are done to find new efficiencies in life and work. Steven learns best through failure and loves being challenged by his peers. Steven currently works with an international Tissue Culture company, providing cannabis genetics to Licensed Cannabis Producers, globally. He's most excited about finding medical markers in cannabis strains that will help the world become less dependant on traditional prescribed drugs, "a truly fascinating time to be alive", says Steven.
Dr. Sara Mazrouei is a planetary scientist, an educational developer, and a science communicator with a passion for sharing the wonders of the universe with the public. Her PhD research focused on the recent bombardment history of the Moon and links to future sample-return missions. Her work has been featured in many media such as the New York Times and National Geographic. Sara is also passionate about increasing the status of women in STEM as well as equity, diversity and meaningful inclusion. Sara uses storytelling, examples including the Story Collider and TEDx Downsview Women, as a method for sharing her authentic experiences and making science more accessible. She is currently an Educational Developer at Ryerson University's Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching.
