Narradores | Storytellers:
Dr. Ana Maria Porras is a biomedical engineer who studies the human gut microbiome. She uses biomaterials to study how both good and bad microbes in our intestines affect our health. And she also crochets them! She currently works as a Cornell Presidential Postdoctoral Fellow and is always finding new ways to engage with the public in the U.S. and Latin America using her crocheted microbes. She got her BS at the University of Texas at Austin and a PhD at the University of Wisconsin. She loves to bake, dance, read, watch tv, and, above all, eat ice cream.
Eduardo Placer is a story doula who works with those posed to make the biggest difference and empowers them to speak their truth with authenticity and power. He is a global community builder who brings diverse groups of people together in common creative expressions of love, peace, and harmony. Eduardo is also a speaker who inspires individuals to push past their fear and limiting self beliefs to embrace a great mission to be of service in the world.
Rodolfo (Ro) Moran is an award-winning chicken wing eater with a penchant for storytelling. His credits include Prose of Pie, Tiny Tales, and other open mic shows. He is most celebrated for his groundbreaking guitar/comedy duo with his daughter. They’ve since broken up due to ‘creative differences’ . Billboard Magazine has referred to Ro Moran as “Who?!” When Ro isn’t telling tall tales, he is a social justice warrior for a national human rights non profit.
Mark Pagán is an award-winning filmmaker, audio producer, writer, and graying b-boy. His audio work has appeared on Code Switch, WNYC, Latino USA, Futuro Studios, TED, On Something, Las Raras, On the Media, Family Ghosts, Radiotopia, and the CBC. His films and performances have been shown at dozens of festivals and shows worldwide including Slamdance Film Festival, Maryland Film Festival, Arizona International Film Festival, Podcast Movement, RISK!, The Moth, and Story Collider. Mark is the host and creator of the award-winning podcast, Other Men Need Help, a playful docu-essay podcast looking at how men present themselves to the world, and what's underneath.
