STORY COLLIDER PRESENTS: STORIES FROM BOISE STATE

The Story Collider is delighted to partner with Boise State University and share stories from their STEM graduate programs, MBA program and Undergraduate program in Materials Science and Engineering.

Join us for an evening of five true, personal stories about discovery! Whether it’s figuring out who you are, how to fit in or how to navigate a new job it’s a journey that sometimes feels like it requires a map and compass.

This show is made possible by the College of Engineering Dean's Office and the departments and school within the College of Engineering and the College of Business and Economics Dean's Office.

Doors open at 6:00 pm MDT. Show starts at 6:30 pm MDT. Hosted by Gastor Almonte and Meisa Salaita.

Stories By:

Kamryn Parker is currently a graduate student at Boise State University pursuing her Master's in Computer Science with a Data Science concentration. She graduated from Boise State in 2021 with a Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with emphases in Data Science, Computer Science, and Applied Math. She currently works as a graduate research assistant focusing on both election and privacy research. Kamryn is passionate about data science and how you can use data to solve the complex problems of today's world. In her free time, Kamryn enjoys being a trivia night enthusiast, cheering on her favorite sports teams, and watching Marvel movies.

 

Assoumer Redempta Manzi Muneza is a Ph.D. student in the Computing program at Boise State University, majoring in Cyber Security. Redempta holds a degree in Information Technology that she obtained from Mount Kenya University Rwanda. Before she started her graduate studies, she worked for Smart Applications International, an IT company based in Kenya, at its branch in Rwanda, as a Customer Support and Services. Furthermore, she is a co-founder of iduka online (iduka.rw), an eCommerce also based in Rwanda. Redempta's ambition is to own a tech company that offers cyber security services. Out of school, Redempta enjoys listening to music, dancing, and telling stories.

 

Kate Benfield is a Ph.D. student in Biomedical Engineering with an emphasis in Biomechanics at Boise State University. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering obtained from Boise State. Kate’s current research focuses on using a 3D optical scanning system to generate 3D models of actual human tissue found in the knee. Kate has a passion for the medical field and following graduation she aspires to utilize her engineering knowledge to help drive healthcare innovation. In her limited free time, she enjoys listening to true crime podcasts and she recently joined a softball team.

 

Jackie Stone is currently an undergrad at Boise State studying mechanical engineering. She is heavily involved in Greek life, as she is a VP of her sorority. She plays lots of video games, and is a huge dog lover. She is so grateful for this opportunity and excited to share her story!

 

Jacob Grinwis, originally from Belgrade Montana, graduated from Boise State University with his Bachelor's degree in Economics. After four years of competing for the University's track and field team, Jacob has since started his Master's degree in Business Administration, began working for the University as a Graduate Assistant, a founded a subscription wine club. Outside of work and school, Jacob is a proud dad of a pomerian chiuahua named Louie.
