Jean Ponzi is known around St. Louis as a strong, longtime voice for Earth. Her eco-logical work blends teaching, coaching, writing, speaking, interviews, storytelling, and bursting into song. As a Plant Ally, “Green Jean” offers her fellow Homo sapiens positive perspective toward living well, responsibly, with our diverse relations on a planet we better learn to share.

Her show Earthworms, on KDHX St. Louis Independent Media, has welcomed listeners into thousands of conversations, with global to local environmental leaders, live on-air and podcast, for over 30 years.

On her job with EarthWays Center, the sustainability division of Missouri Botanical Garden, Jean manages the St. Louis Green Business Challenge. She researches and responds to public questions as operator of the Garden’s Green Resources Info Service (aka Stump the Green Geek). Her talks are in demand on topics including recycling, composting and waste reduction, indoor environmental quality, energy efficiency, green building, and native plant landscaping for biodiversity and water conservation. Now becoming an Elder, Jean is courting Story as a powerful partner to motivate our toddler species toward collaborative, restorative, appreciative -  potentially even FUN - life with our Earth neighbors and kin."
