Introductory Storytelling Workshop - October

Join us for a fun, fast, and very hands-on introduction to science storytelling. This workshop series will take place across a total of six (6) one-hour sessions held over Zoom every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday starting at 7:00 PM EST // 4:00 PM PST from October 2nd to October 13th. (That was a lot. Scroll down for a bulleted list of dates if that’s more your style.)

What to expect:

In this introductory level workshop, two experienced Story Collider producers will give you an overview of the underlying philosophy of our style of first-person storytelling and guide you through a series of hands-on exercises to help you find and refine your own personal story about science.

We assign episodes from our podcast archives as required listening and spend our time learning how to become better story listeners as well as better storytellers. By the end of the class, you will have drafted and shared your own true, personal story about science. Your spot in the class also includes a free ticket to our post-workshop story slam, which gives you the chance to share your story with a panel of (very supportive) experts for even more feedback!

Workshop instructors: Jitesh Jaggi and Resherle Verna

One-hour sessions will start at 7:00 PM EST // 4:00 PM PST on the following days:

  • October 2nd: What is a story?

  • October 4th: Why does it matter?

  • October 6th: Who tells a story?

  • October 9th: What is my story about?

  • October 11th: Where’s the science in my story?

  • October 13th: How do I end my story? + Post-Workshop Story Slam!
