Join us for a fun, fast, and very hands-on introduction to science storytelling. This workshop series will take place across a total of six (6) one-hour sessions held over Zoom every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday starting at 8:00 PM EST // 5:00 PM PST from February 12th to February 23rd. (That was a lot. Scroll down for a bulleted list of dates if that’s more your style.)
What to expect:
In this introductory level workshop, two experienced Story Collider producers will give you an overview of the underlying philosophy of our style of first-person storytelling and guide you through a series of hands-on exercises to help you find and refine your own personal story about science.
We assign episodes from our podcast archives as required listening and spend our time learning how to become better story listeners as well as better storytellers. By the end of the class, you will have drafted and shared your own true, personal story about science. Your spot in the class also includes a free ticket to our post-workshop story slam, which gives you the chance to share your story with a panel of (very supportive) experts for even more feedback!
Workshop instructors: Jitesh Jaggi and Kayla Glynn
One-hour sessions will start at 8:00 PM EST // 5:00 PM PST on the following days:
February 12th: What is a story?
February 14th: Why does it matter?
February 16th: Who tells a story?
February 19th: What is my story about?
February 21st: Where’s the science in my story?
February 23rd: How do I end my story? + Post-Workshop Story Slam!
How much does it cost?
Our standard rate is $300 for a six-hour (multi-session) workshop, and includes an invitation to join our Story Collider workshop alumni community, as well as a free ticket to a future live show. We highly encourage attendees to secure professional development funds from their employers or universities to cover the cost of workshop registration.
Discounts of 50-75% are available to those who will be paying for their workshop out-of-pocket or make less than the living wage for their area. A limited number of pro-bono seats will also be available in each workshop via a lottery system.
