Anthony Elmore fell into storytelling in first grade when he forgot to bring something for Show n’ Tell, so he improvised a story. His dry, often whimsical style has made audiences laugh at Rabbit Box Stories, The Moth, Atlanta Fringe Audio, Write Club, and open mics around Atlanta. Anthony’s shelf space is full of Star Wars Lego spaceships. He’s late age diagnosed with ADHD and tends to overshare and decided to take it to the stage. This year his one-person show “Farting in Church” debuts at the Denver Fringe Festival.
Carolina Colón is a first-generation Bioengineering Ph.D. student at Georgia Tech. She was born and raised in Puerto Rico. She later moved with her family to Orlando, Florida where she started community college at Valencia College and a career with Marriott Hotels at the Orlando World Center Marriott. Although she later graduated with a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from Florida Tech, she has shifted to the Bioengineering world at Georgia Tech to make cell therapies for astronauts in the future. Her interdisciplinary vision has earned her many awards including the inaugural Georgia Tech Woodruff’s School Interdisciplinary Research Fellowship (IRF) allowing her creative freedom to make this merger of fields a reality. Outside of the lab, she likes to watch anime, learn languages, play video games, write, swim, and read and arrange her many books.
Anna Peterson is originally from Colorado, but has called Atlanta home for nearly 2.5 years. She obtained her PhD in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology in 2019 from the University of Tennessee, and has studied parasites and pathogens in everything from salamanders to rats to humans. In her free time, she enjoys hanging out with her dog Hank, running long distances very slowly, and discovering the city of Atlanta by bicycle.
Born and raised in Hong Kong, Alex Ip graduated with a B.S. in Environmental Engineering from Georgia Tech. He is the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of The Xylom, a Gen-Z-led nonprofit newsroom exploring the communities influencing and shaped by science. At MIT, Alex aims to cover the future of cities and environmental justice in the American South, in addition to the oft-contentious dynamic between Evangelical Christianity and climate change. When he's not writing, you could see Alex zipping around town on his bike, watching a lot of basketball, and cuddling his cat.
