After graduating from Howard University with a BA in History, Dr. Karinn Glover worked at Essence Magazine and as an Account Executive for Verizon. She followed her curiosity about medicine and ultimately attended SUNY Downstate College of Medicine and obtained an MPH from Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health.
Currently Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Dr. Glover teaches psychopharmacology and psychotherapy to Psychiatry and Family Medicine residents. Her career as a consultant and educator have informed her expertise in the fields of health equity, workplace mental health, and organizational success.
Neeti Jain is a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow at the Yale School of the Environment. Her research focuses on justice-centered storytelling in environmental education spaces, and she works with natural history museums to evaluate object labels and gallery content to make them more diverse, inclusive, and accessible for audiences of all backgrounds. A Los Angeles native, Neeti has been making her way across the three coasts and now spends her weekends lurking around the underwater dioramas at the American Museum.
Shane Mauss is a comedian & podcaster who has appeared on Conan, Kimmel, Comedy Central, and more. He is currently performing for sold out crowds with his newest project "A Better Trip" which combines thematic elements of psychedelics, science, and standup comedy. The show is slated for a permanent residency at the premier AREA15 in Las Vegas in April.
Yamilée Toussaint Beach is the Founder & CEO of STEM From Dance. After studying mechanical engineering and being an avid dancer for over 25 years, she switched gears to teach high school algebra in an underserved community in Brooklyn through Teach For America. She started STEM From Dance in 2012 with the hope that a program that infuses dance in STEM would help to increase the number of underrepresented minority girls across the nation who pursue a future in STEM. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from MIT and a Master of Science in Teaching from Pace University. She is also a recipient of Teach For America's Social Innovation Award, AnitaB.org's Educational Innovation Award, Brooklyn Magazine's 50 Most Fascinating People, and an AAAS/IF THEN® Ambassador.
Hakim J. Walker was born in Brooklyn, NY to a large family of Jamaican immigrants. A graduate of Brooklyn Technical High School, he studied Mathematics and Philosophy at Boston University and was among the first in his family to attend college. He worked as an admissions officer and research assistant at MIT before earning his Ph.D. in Mathematics from George Washington University in 2017. Currently, Hakim is an instructor and residential advisor at Harvard University, where he teaches courses in the Department of Mathematics. He is also a faculty mentor for the Emerging Scholars Program, which supports disadvantaged Harvard students who wish to pursue careers in STEM. Hakim is a two-time TEDx speaker, and he has performed and lectured at various venues and campuses around the country.
