With hands of an artist, eyes of an ecologist, and the heart of a deeply connected human, Willoughby Arevalo brings the practical and the joyful together through the science and wonder of mycology, interdisciplinary visual and performing arts, and education. His community-engaged artwork is an invitation for community members to not only learn from fungi, but to grow their true earthy relationships. Raised in Arcata, California (Wiyot and Yurok Territories), he strives to be a good guest on Coast Salish Territory.
Charlie Cook is a museum programmer, with a deep love for science communication, natural history, and hope-filled climate change calls to action. When they’re not rambling about the West Coast’s biodiversity, Charlie is a drag artist who revels in gender euphoria and campy, positive representations of masculinity. They hold a BFA in Original Works- an interdisciplinary theatre arts degree- from Cornish College of the Arts, because even in school this non-binary bisexual with ADHD couldn’t focus on just one thing. Charlie is very grateful for the way Story Collider combines storytelling and science and hopes you will be too!
