Dr. Lindsey Rustad is a Research Ecologist for the USDA Forest Service Center for Research on Ecosystem Change in Durham, NH, co-Director of the USDA Northeastern Hub for Risk Adaptation and Mitigation to Climate Change, and Team Leader for the Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest, NH. She received a B.A. in Philosophy at Cornell University in 1980, an M.S. in Forest Science at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Sciences in 1983, and a Ph.D in Plant Science in 1988 at the University of Maine. She is a Fellow of the Soil Science Society of America and an American Association for the Advancement of Science If/Then Ambassador. Her areas of expertise include biogeochemistry, climate change impacts, and the integration of art and science.
Erin Bonilla is the VP of Training Programs at STAR HARBOR Space Academy, the world's first publicly accessible space training academy and R&D campus. Previously, Bonilla worked at NASA HQ as a digital strategist, designer, and project manager whose work later earned her and her team a NASA Honor “Group Achievement” award. Before NASA, Bonilla was the creative director at a fashion advertising firm helping to launch 20+ fashion label websites and advertising campaigns. Bonilla is an avid explorer having hiked to Everest Base Camp and participated in a 2-week Mars simulation mission on the slopes of Mauna Loa. Erin advocates for the deep connection between the arts and STEM education (STEAM).
Marley Parker is a professional photographer, videographer, and science writer. After earning her degree in Journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, she took a job at her alma mater, working as a science communicator for UNC Research. During her tenure there, she documented scientists conducting research across North Carolina, as well as in Chile, Ecuador, the Dominican Republic, and Belize.
In 2018, she left UNC to start her own business. As a full-time freelancer, she specializes in capturing science in remote places. From Antarctica to the middle of the Pacific Ocean, she has joined over a dozen international scientific research expeditions in the past three years. She has worked on projects sponsored by the National Science Foundation, NASA, the Ocean Exploration Trust, the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, and many others.
