Molly Grear is trained as an ocean engineer, but recently moved to DC to apply her analytical skills to ocean science and technology policy at the National Science Foundation. Before that, Molly completed a PhD focused on marine renewable energy. She is often recognized as that woman who can't sit still through all day conferences without knitting up a storm. Molly has combined her love of both knitting and science to create a series of knitted scientist action figures.
Davine Ker is a stand up comedian, improvisor, musical improviser, Moth StorySLAM winner, actor, visual artist and a musician. Davine paints the picture with thought provoking jokes, concepts and storytelling. She has performed throughout the DC area and as a featured stand up in shows in New York, Florida, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, California, Illinois, Pennsylvania and Montreal, Canada.
Len Kruger is a writer and storyteller. He recently retired from the Congressional Research Service at the Library of Congress, where he was a Specialist in Science and Technology Policy. Len has performed stories on stage with local storytelling groups such as Story District, the Moth, and Better Said Than Done. His short fiction has appeared in numerous publications including Zoetrope All-Story, The Barcelona Review, and Gargoyle. He has Bachelor of Applied Science and Bachelor of Arts degrees from the University of Pennsylvania, and an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Maryland.
Keith Mellnick is a freelance photographer whose past work in the Middle East, Central Asia, and East Africa has been highlighted by National Geographic Books, the Atlantic, and his brother's refrigerator. Based in Washington, DC, he currently works primarily with organized labor and progressive causes throughout the US. In addition to photography and storytelling, he enjoys any opportunity to escape into the woods--far from politics, Photoshop, and oppressive DC heat indexes.
Noor Shakfeh is a Syrian-American woman scientist. Deeply impacted by the Syrian conflict, Noor traveled to camps for Internally Displaced Persons in Syria in 2013 to perform a disease forecasting analysis. Returning to the States, she found herself deeply involved in the advocacy and community efforts to relieve the suffering of the Syrian people. Noor holds degrees in Microbiology (B.S), Economics (B.A), Public Health (M.H.S), and Policy (M.S.). Focused on improving the lives of all, Noor currently works at the U.S. House of Representatives. You can often find Noor at Farmer's Markets. She can provide a relevant lyrical quote for any given situation.
