Kristy Hasen is a New York based actor and filmmaker. She did her undergraduate work at Yale, film school at Columbia, and studied acting with Maggie Flanigan and Anthony Abeson. Beyond performing in award winning features & short films, Kristy has created 1-man shows at Ars Nova, done improv and sketch at Magnet Theater, and told stories at the Moth. She has made trailers and promos for Food Network, USA, Sundance, Oxygen, BET, and Nickelodeon. Each July, she teaches at an acting and filmmaking program she co-created in France.
After getting her Master’s degree in geography, Angel Ling entered the field of international development and global public health from an idealistic notion of wanting to serve others, while travelling the world. Since then, her work has taken her to Africa, Asia, and Central America – working on programs to combat HIV/AIDS, 5 of 17 WHO designated Neglected Tropical Diseases, and Tuberculosis. In late 2017, Angel discovered podcasting and storytelling as a way to share lesser told stories. She is the NYC producer of 80 Minutes Around the World Immigration Stories storytelling show, co-host of Immigration Stories with Nestor Gomez podcast, and creator of Not Waiting podcast.
Oscar Schofield is a biological oceanographer interested in how physics and chemistry regulate ocean ecosystems. He is a Distinguished Professor at Rutgers University, and the Chair of the Department of Marine and Coastal Sciences. Oscar’s research is conducted all over the world, from the rapid warming/melting along the West Antarctic Peninsula to sustained studies along the northeast United States. He and his colleague formed the Center of Ocean Observing Leadership (COOL), which developing new technologies and ocean sensor networks to better understand marine systems. His research efforts are coupled to an extensive public outreach effort focused on communicating the excitement and adventure of conducting science in the field. For fun, Oscar and his wife run a small organic farm.
Ismael Nazario is a formerly incarcerated prison reform/social justice/human rights advocate previously working at The Fortune Society (TFS) where he initially worked within the I-CAN (Individualized Correction Achievement Network) program, helping those at high risk for recidivism from Rikers reintegrate into society after their release. Ismael worked at the Center for Community Alternatives dealing with court involved youth. He became passionate about helping young people and inspired to stand up for these disenfranchised voices. Ismael has worked with numerous advocacy projects such as the Raise the Age campaign, Banning Solitary Confinement, and Rikers Reform. In 2015, he was recognized for his contributions and received the Peabody Award for Community Activism. Through his firsthand experience within the criminal justice system, Ismael focuses his work on numerous social justice and human rights injustices, not only to shed light on these issues, but to encourage others to take action and become a part of the solution.
