Gregory Gedman photo.jpg

Raised in New Jersey, Gregory Gedman has always loved dogs, DC comics, and great stories. Through various theatrical and musical productions growing up, he learned the power of storytelling. He continues to use this skill in his work studying the genetics of vocal learning as a Ph.D. candidate at Rockefeller, where he has found communicating his scientific journey to be his greatest challenge yet. Greg is a first-time participant in Story Collider, and he is excited to be here!

Mimi Hayes is a New York-based comedian and author of the newest memoir "I'll Be OK, It's Just a Hole in My Head." A former high school teacher and brain injury survivor, Hayes wrote her first humorous memoir while recovering from a traumatic head injury at the age of twenty-two. Her honest take on trauma and love followed her to the stage as a stand-up comedian where she has performed on stages such as Denver Comedy Works, Broadway Comedy Club, Stand Up NY, Dangerfield's, and The Upright Citizen’s Brigade. She was recently highlighted by Mogul as a "New York City Comedian To Look Out For in 2018" and is currently writing a Ted Talk as well as several other memoirs and novels. Catch her newest podcast "Mimi and The Brain," a comedic neuroscience podcast, available now on all podcast streaming devices. You can cyberstalk her at mimihayes.com, follow her on Twitter and Instagram (@mimihayesbrain), or send her a carrier pigeon.

Will Tran photo.jpg

Will Tran is not a scientist, but he got close a few times. In high school, he interned at the National Institute of Mental Health working on a study of Alzheimer’s. He matriculated to New York University as a neuroscience major, but then quickly switched to the art school. Whoops. Will is a creative director in Los Angeles. He enjoys sunsets, long walks on the beach, and standing on stage to share profoundly personal stories with hundreds of strangers for no discernible reason other than the temporary appeasement of some deep, dark, inner desire to please. He also has a dog named Finch.

Zoya Vallari photo.jpg

Zoya Vallari is a newly-minted Ph.D. in physics. She studies tiny fundamental particles called neutrinos. She's the winner of Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition organized by her university. She was awarded the International fellowship by American Association of University Women for the year 2016-17. Physics and dance are two important ways in which she relates to the world, though books come a close third. She is trained in Kathak, an Indian classical dance for over 10 years. She loves mangoes, wine and sunshine. She is proud of her ability to lucid dream.
