Richard is a freelance science journalist based in London, writing mostly about natural history and archaeology. His work has appeared in New Scientist, Science, Hakai, The Economist and National Geographic, among others. He used to produce The Economist's science and tech podcast, Babbage, and has reported from Brazil for PRI's The World. He has received fellowships to the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and Marine Biological Laboratory, and used to work for a coral reef restoration foundation on the northern coast of Colombia.
