Seminar - Performance Skills

Abstract:
Storytelling is a performance art form. Even if we learn to write the most eloquent story it means very little if we can't get on stage and say it. In this course we will learn the skills necessary to become a confident presenter of your self.

Prerequisites:
This class is open to all participants.

Full Course Description:
Drawing from the practices of stand up comedy and clown work, this 2 week class is built around the idea that the stage can be the most comfortable place to be yourself. Through a series of activities and performance analyses, this course will demystify joke making, talking to an audience, being vulnerable on stage, and just plain being yourself. Our positioning is that of a storytelling organization rooted in telling true, personal stories, and so the goal of this workshop is to help you find your voice for being yourself on stage. This workshop is good for those participants who want to be more engaging and creative during their presentations, or just want to find the honest funny side of themselves and get prepared to get on stage!

Participation in this workshop also comes with a free ticket to the online science story slam on October 8th.

Participation will be capped at 12 participants.

Taught by Amazon Bestselling comedian and Story Collider Senior Producer Gastor Almonte

Dates and Times:
Monday, Wednesday, Friday from Sep. 27 - Oct 8th. from 12-1pm ET
